Application of bentonite
The properties of montmorillonite are closely related to the types of exchangeable cations between layers. According to the types of main exchangeable cations between layers, montmorillonite is usually divided into calcium montmorillonite and sodium montmorillonite.
Montmorillonite has adsorption and cation exchange properties, and can be used to remove toxins from edible oils, purification of gasoline and kerosene, and wastewater treatment; due to its good water absorption and swelling properties, as well as dispersing and suspending and pulping properties, it is used for drilling mud, Flame retardant (suspended fire extinguishing); it can also be used as filler in the paper industry to optimize the performance of coatings such as adhesion, covering power, water resistance, scrub resistance, etc.; due to its good adhesion, it can be used instead of starch for Yarn sizing in the textile industry saves grain without linting, and does not emit peculiar smell after the paddle.
In general, the properties of sodium montmorillonite (or sodium bentonite) are better than those of calcium.
Bentonite (montmorillonite) because of its good physical and chemical properties, can be used as decolorizing agent, binder, thixotropic agent, suspending agent, stabilizer, filler, feed, catalyst, etc. It is widely used in agriculture, light industry and cosmetics , medicine and other fields, so montmorillonite is a natural mineral material with a wide range of uses.
Bentonite can be used as waterproof material, such as bentonite waterproof blanket, bentonite waterproof board and its supporting materials, which are laid by mechanical fixing method. It is applied to the underground environment with a pH value of 4 to 10, and the environment with high salt content should use modified bentonite, and it should be used after passing the test.
